It is only fitting and proper that Morristown, “The Military Capital of the Colonies,” should be the first to have a monument listing all the military actions of the United States of America to document the human sacrifices made by her people. Watson, Mayor of Morris Township Date of dedication: May 13, 1992 Who Put it Here?: Memorial and Veterans Day Association of Morristown and Morris Township Description of Memorial: The memorial is located in Burnham Park in Morristown, NJ. The black marble monument is placed in the middle of a circular dedicated area. The monument sits in the middle of a star. There are a trio of benches surrounding the monument for sitting and reflecttion. Directly behind the monument is a flag pole. The circular area is surrounded by a hedge row and a split rail fence. There is a 3 foot wide path that leads to the monument from the street.
