A bronze marker is fastened to a rock at the site of the Granger Cabin where four young young bachelors from Red Wing, Minnesota, were victims of an Indian massacre in 1857. Their names were recorded as Carl Granger, Dr. I.H. Harriott, Bertell A. Snyder, and Joseph Harshman. The plaque reads: “Site of Granger Cabin. Family killed by Indians 1857. Erected by Ladies of the Lake Chapter D.A.R. 1828.”
