Located on Thomas Tavern, the pattern was chosen because Dandridge County is named after Mrs. Martha Dandridge Curtis Washington, of course, the First Lady of President George Washington.

The quilt block is found in downtown Dandridge at 101 E. Meeting Street on the south side of Thomas Tavern. Parking is available on the street.

The Appalachian Quilt Trail informs us that this pattern was selected because Dandridge County is named after the first First Lady.

The Martha Washington Star is a pinwheel inside an eight-point star. In this case, this small block was painted in bright red and white with print pieces in the four corners.

Bonus quilt block not on my list, but worth a stop. Good history lesson.
