Hudson is a small unincorporated community on the border of South Dakota and Iowa just south of Canton. It has a population of 296, as of the 2010 census. The population has dropped from 402 as of the 2000 census.
Located in Lincoln County, Hudson is not on any major state or federal highways. SD Highway 46 is about 3 miles south of Hudson.
The town does not have a separate school system but is co-opted with Alcester.
Hudson is home to a bio-refining plant just south of town. The facility commenced operation in 2004 and will produce almost 150,000 gallons of ethanol per year.

Description of Memorial:
This memorial is located on the southern end of Main Street and consists of about 1/4 of a city block.
It consists of 4 granite blocks and two granite benches, with three flag poles behind. The flags flown are the American Flag, the South Dakota Flag, and the POW/MIA flag.
On the center stone is etched the Pledge of Allegiance and on the two outer stones are etched the names of area veterans.
Two granite benches are available for sitting and reflecting on the memorial.
