In Pawtucket there is a large park known as Slater Park. This park is a municipal park with a lot of recreational activities available. Most are listed below, which is comprehensive enough that someone should find something to do.

The park is 194 acres of land that used to be part of the Daggett Farm, which the town bought in 1894. The land was developed into a park starting in 1907. Facilities were added from time to time to the present day.

Some of the major features of the park include:

Daggett Farm and Greenhouse - This area hardly resembles the old Daggett Farm. It stands on the old zoo that was closed in 1990. Today, reported by Wikipedia, it is now a place where farm animals are kept.

Looff Carousel - This is a very old carousel - dating back to 1894, though it was installed in the park in 1910. Well worth the visit.

Dog Park - A new addition to the zoo, it is where dogs can roam off-leash.

Daggett House - This 1685 house is the original house to the land that is now the park.

Athletic Fields - Several kinds of recreational/athletic fields are within the park.

Rhode Island Watercolor Society Gallery - This gallery, which serves as the headquarters for the society, exhibits water-media paintings of its members.

This park is worth a stop for just a rest, a walk, or a ride!
