This is a stainless steel rod in a sleeve, encased in a metal cover, and set in 2004 by NCGS. It is located at the Chatham County Schools Administrative Offices, about 0.35 mile west of the Courthouse.

It is 48 feet south of the centerline of US-64 Business (West Street), 15 feet north of the north end of a brick sign for the school system, and 16.1 feet south of the south edge of a concrete walkway. It also is 70.7 feet east of a set of concrete steps.
