Laflin Creek Cemetery lies east of Alex. To reach the cemetery, head north out of Alex on Highway 19C (Alex Road). Just north of the river, turn right on Taylor Terrace and then right on River Road (County Road 1440). Then, turn south of Ireton Road (County Road 2960). The cemetery is located in the middle of a field. There is a decorative metal gate. You can drive in on a gravel lane, or park outside the gate and walk in.
This is a tall tree stump marker standing on four horizontal logs. At the base are engravings of leaves and fronds, and above that, the name GIFFORD. The inscription is engraved on a scroll and is a little hard to read:
HORACE GIFFORD
BORN AUG ? 1861
DIED JULY 23 1910
MEMBER OF RED OAK
CAMP NO. 553
W.O.W. WING, ARK.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
