"An early pioneer in the Yuma area, Mr Redondo was a successful rancher and farmer. After gaining United States citizenship shortly after the Arizona territory was formed in 1864, he served three terms as the Yuma County representative to the Arizona Territorial Legislature. Mr Redondo was instrumental in having the territorial prison moved to Yuma from Phoenix - earning him the title "father of the territorial prison."

In January 1878he was selected the second mayor of the village of Yuma and served until his death."
