RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1967 (ELH) THE STATION AND ALL THE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. DUE TO ESTABLISHING AN AZIMUTH MARK AND ADDITIONAL MEASUREMENTS A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS- THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 6-1/4 MILES NORTHWEST OF ELDERTON, 6 MILES SOUTHEAST OF KITTANNING, 1/2 MILE NORTH OF U. S. HIGHWAY 422 AND 1/4 MILE NORTH OF THE BLANKET HILL SPEEDWAY ON THE HIGHEST PART OF THE HILL. THE PROPERTY IS OWNED BY MR. L. BLAIR. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U. S. HIGHWAY 422 AND STATE HIGHWAY 210 IN ELDERTON GO WEST ON U. S. HIGHWAY 422 FOR 6.5 MILES TO THE ENTRANCE OF BLANKET HILL SPEEDWAY ON THE RIGHT, CONTINUE WEST ON U. S. HIGHWAY 422 FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL AND A GRAVEL CROSSROADS, (TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THIS POINT TURN LEFT ON THE GRAVELED ROAD AND GO SOUTH FOR 0.1 MILE TO A T-ROAD, TURN RIGHT AND GO WEST FOR 0.15 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT), TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH ON THE GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.35 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD ON THE RIGHT WITH A CABLE ACROSS THE ROAD, A KEY IS NEEDED, TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST FOR 0.1 MILE TO A REVERSED Y-FORK, BEAR RIGHT AND CONTINUE EASTERLY UP HILL FOR 0.95 MILE TO A RADIO TOWER AND THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. THE STATION MARK IS 40 FEET NORTH OF A 10 INCH TREE WITH A TRIANGLE BLAZE, 4.2 FEET EAST OF A 4 BY 4 FOOT WOODEN POST AND 3.1 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. IT IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 3 INCHES AND IS STAMPED BLANKET 1958. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS 62.3 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE METAL WITNESS POST, 35 FEET EAST OF THE 10 INCH TREE WITH THE TRIANGLE BLAZE AND 16 FEET NORTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF A TRACK ROAD. IT IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 1 INCH AND IS STAMPED BLANKET NO 1 1958. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS A U. S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY DISK, UNSTAMPED, SET IN A 6 BY 7 INCH CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES. IT IS 101 FEET NORTHEAST OF A RADIO MAST AND 51.1 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE METAL WITNESS POST. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 39 FEET NORTHWEST OF A 36 INCH OAK TREE, 23 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF A GRAVEL ROAD AND 2.5 FEET SOUTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST. IT IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT PROJECTING 4 INCHES AND STAMPED BLANKET 1958 1967. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN- 6 MILES SOUTHEAST OF KITTANNING.

From the east junction of U.S. Highway 422 and Business Highway 422 east of Kittanning, go southeast on Highway 422 for 4.5 miles to a crossroad. Turn right and go south on Cornish Road for 0.1 mile to a T-road. Turn right and go west on Blanket Hill Road for 0.15 mile to the azimuth mark on the left on a bank.
