The Thai city and province of Satun abuts Malaysia. Thus there is a sizeable amount of cross border traffic as folk cross the border in both directions for R&R and to visit relatives (Satun province has a sizeable Malay population). One means of entering Thailand is to take a ferry from Malaysia to the port of Tammalang, just outside the city of Satun.
The port building has a full range of services, gift shops, food & drink, sellers of ferry tickets, beggars and a few young people hanging around. Plus, of course, an immigration checkpoint. Outside the port building are buses and motor bikes ready to whisk you away. About ten minutes by car from the city of Satun.
Type Of Crossing: Country
Where is the border located?: Water/Ferry
Welcome Center/Facilities: Yes
