The inscription is on a war memorial dedicated to the Fleet Air Arm and their campaigns and wars between 1914 and 1991. The inscription is from Psalm 18 verse 10 and reads:
"he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind".
With the statue being in the guise of Daedalus this is a very apt inscription.
