The construction of St. Louis-de-Gonzague church, in the past known as Rocqueville, began in 1857 based on plans prepared by Victor Bourgeau and Étienne-Alcibiade Leprohon. Works were delayed because of problems when building the walls. The church was inaugurated in 1863 and the interior decoration will begin in 1880, on plans prepared by Victor Bourgeau. It is interesting to know that this building is among his early works and it shows a neo-Classical architecture inspired by Italian art and English art. Built with gray stones according to the traditional Recollet layout, St. Louis-de-Gonzague church has wooden barrel vault, pillars and majestic arches. The interior contains very nice panelling carved by Thomas Allard and many paintings of which eight are due to Guido Nincheri just as the two frescos.

The St. Louis-de-Gonzague church belongs to the "triomphant" churches, but on a lesser scale because it kept traditional elements. With the exception of the spires that were replaced because the older ones were too heavy for the structure, the church remained unchanged. It testifies the community's efforts to keep it nice and clean. In the Suroît region, there are not many churches left that were designed by Victor Bourgeau and are still in good shape.
