Sharing a boulder with a plaque celebrating the importance of Bluff Street in Joliet (including another first- the first ford and bridge across the Des Plaines River), this marker reads:
"JOLIET/JULIET'S FIRST LOG CABIN WAS BUILT BY
CHARLES & CHLOE REED 1832-33. OTHER HISTORIC
DATA OF SITE IS ON PLAQUE SAVED FROM 1958 FIRE
OF NATIONAL HOTEL AND ADLER'S MARKET AND REPLACED
DURING JULIET'S 150TH BIRTHDAY.
WILL-JOLIET BICENTENNIAL PARK, INC., 1987"
