Canal to lake...but gravel parking lot in between is not a good place to lay the eggs!

This turtle seemed quite content to dig into the gravel of a cottage parking lot. Fortunately, no one wanted to park there at that time! Lake Wawasee has many, many turtles, and the canals around the lake are popular spots for the turtles to catch some sun. The summer of 2011,particularly the month of June, seemed to have LOTS of turtles moving across the road. This particular road is a private lane, but is heavily populated during the summer months.

Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
