At this point, travelers cross the Potomac River which seperates Washington County, Maryland & Berkekey County, West Virginia.
The Maryland Welcome sign is at the W end of the bridge on West Virginia soil. Also, a West Virginia welcome center is located about a mile west of the crossing.
