The splendid golf course at Vidago Palace is a Cameron & Powell redesign of an original Mackenzie Ross 9, dating back to 1936. Today, the upgraded course meets USGA specifications, having been transformed into an international championship standard par 72, retaining the integrity of the original design and faithfully reflecting the aesthetics, playability, spirit and character of the site.

Features include elevated tees and greens, strategic bunker positioning and greens that demand a sharp eye to read the slopes. As a result, Vidago Palace Golf Course will delight and challenge the most seasoned player.

The course is one of dramatic contrasts which are united by a singular respect for the surrounding nature. Pathways and retaining walls use local stone and centuries-old trees have been preserved wherever possible. The first holes are played in a forested and relatively flat valley floor; the later ones in open expanses with magnificent vistas and awe-inspiring views of distant hilltops and villages. All 18 holes represent a challenge and each of the last 9 is distinctly different from the previous one, so that golfers can test and enjoy their full range of strokes.

The newly expanded course also includes a golf academy, 340m driving range, chipping area and 2 putting greens. Buggies, pull trolleys, electric trolleys and rental clubs are available from The Club House.

The dress code requires that shirts must have a collar and sleeves. Jeans and tracksuits cannot be worn on the course or in the clubhouse. Soft spikes are mandatory.
