The area around Munyang Station is noted for its fruit and vegetable farming. It is especially proud of the
chamwi, also known as the oriental melon or Korean melon. Grapes, tomatoes and strawberries are also specialties of the region. These colorful murals depict different scenes, drawn in a child-like fashion, of fruit production, and even health tips about the various fruits and vegetables.
The murals are located just inside the second level of the station and the parking area, open to public access without purchasing a ticket. The train arrives on an elevated platform above this, and it is the last station on this line from the metro service from the large city of Daegu.
This is also the origin of several hiking trail systems in the mountains west of the station. The Macheon Mountain trail has been seeded with fourteen geocaches, and there is one at the station. It is a steep, strenuous trail, but a marvelous hike for the vigorous outdoorsman. There are frequent rest stations, restrooms, and exercise equipment along the way.
