Capt. Oliver Gardiner House was built circa 1750. The two-story, 5-bay house is in a Colonial style. It was built for sea captain Oliver Gardiner. He spent a total 36 years in nautical service before, during and after the American Revolution. He was commissioned in 1776 from Nicholas Cooke Esq., then Governor of Rhode island and Providence Plantations. He was put in command of a Row Galley called the Washington which was an armed vessel designed to protect the trade of colony. He lived in this house until his death in 1825 at age 84.

The house is in very good condition and continues to serve as a single family home.
