Some time in the 1980s the local merchants decided to attract more people to their area and commissioned a statue that would act as the female counterpart of the famous peeing little man of Brussels, 'Manneken Pis'. Denis-Adrien Debouvrie sculpted it in 1985 and in 1987 it was placed as a fountain near the end of the Impasse de la Fidelité, a cul-de-sac leading off the well-known, touristy Rue des Bouchers, close to the Grand Place.
The statue in blue-grey limestone is about 50 centimetres high and depicts a little girl, hair in short pigtails, squatting and happily urinating.
