This 1963 stainless steel piece is by artist David Smith..and is very similar to many of his works in a series. The piece has 4 three-dimensional rectangular pieces of different sizes stacked vertically upon each other. Smith (1906-1965) was an American sculptor much influenced by Picasso. His wife, Dorothy Dehner (1901–1994) was also a sculptor.
