These 2 views enable you to orient yourself in modern day Leeds, but also get a flavour of the past and how Leeds developed over time.

You are at the southern end of Leeds Bridge, a cast iron road bridge rebuilt in 1873. The bridge crosses the River Aire at the point it changes from being the River Aire, to the Canalised Aire and Calder Navigation.

In 1888 people crossing the bridge were filmed in what some people claim is the first ever movie film, which was shot by Louis Le Prince.

Also nearby is the historic Tetley Brewery building which controversially closed on the 17th June 2011, after 189 years of brewing on the same site.
Location Name: Bridge End, at end of Leeds Bridge
