This labyrinth (Peace Path) is located in Reaves Park, one of Norman's largest and popular recreation areas. The park is on the east side of the University of Oklahoma and west of the Jimmie Austin Golf Course.
The labyrinth is on the south side Lawrence Ave from the S. Jenkins Ave. entrance. A large shade tree is the center point of the labyrinth, where the path ends.
From the book "Oklahoma Labyrinths": 7-Circuit outdoor permanent, reddish-brown granite stone gravel walking path, 65 feet, wheelchair accessible. Built: May 2002
Text on sign at the entrance to the labyrinth:
A walking memorial to honor the people who died on September 11, 2001
Through the inner quiet of contemplative walking may we find peaceful solutions to our personal and planetary problems.
"It is solved in the walking"
St. Augustine
The labyrinth is an evocative tool. It works through the imagination of the senses, creating an awareness of how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to all that is Sacred
Suggestions for Walking the Labyrinth
*Receptivity: Upon entering, you may ask a question or simply note where you are in life then enter in a quiet open mind called gracious attention
*Reflection: Upon arriving in the center listen quietly with all your senses for your inner nature and to outer nature
*Renewal: As you exit consider the gift, action or attitude you will bring forward into the world
