In 2003, Zippy visited the Happy Buddha Restaurant in Gainesville, Florida, USA, and had a little chat with the Buddha.

The Happy Buddha is no longer located outside as was depicted in the Zippy strip. From what I understand (the owner's English was a bit broken), the restaurant recently moved into this new location and the Buddha was moved along with them, but he's now being kept inside. Apparently, this Buddha has been around for quite a while and he brings them good luck. The owner wasn't aware that the Buddha had been featured in a Zippy strip. Fortunately I had printed out a copy of the strip and had it with me and was able to give it to him.
As you might expect, they serve Chinese food here, but the reviews appear to be mixed (
visit link) - it was only 11am when we stopped by so it was a little too early for us to eat. Maybe next time we're in Gainesville.
