The plinth, obeslisk and water bowls appear to be made from Portland stone. The memorial was unveiled by Winston Churchill in April 1925. Initially, this was a fountain, hence the bowls, but it was not working the day I was there and I am sure it does not work at all these days.
The plinth and support under the top bowl is about 4 metres high (13 feet) and the obelisk is about 4 metres high (13 feet) from the bottom of the top bowl to its top.
