A blue plaque on the bridge on northgate street. It commemorates the bridge and the erection of the clock for the diamond jubilee of queen Victoria in 1897.

The plaque reads:-

The Eastgate
The was the site of the
eastern gateway of the
Roman fortress, part of which
was incorporated into the
medieval gate.
The present arch was built
1768-9 at the expense of
Richard, earl Grosvenor.
The clock above commemorates
the diamond jubilee of
Queen Vicotria
in 1897.
