Butler Fork Trail is located 8 miles up Big Cottonwood canyon. The trailhead and parking area on highway 190 is about 30 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Dog Lake is 3.1 miles up the trail. The elevation gain to Dog Lake is 1,740 feet. This trail makes for a great day hike in the beautiful Wasatch Cache National Forest.
