This area is called Brewery Wharf and is on the south bank of the River Aire in Leeds. The area had developed during the industrial revolution when the Aire and nearby canals had been used as a major transport hub for goods.

This wharf expanded to serve the nearby large Tetley’s brewery, hence the name Brewery Wharf.

In recent years as the use of the river declined the area has been redeveloped with museums, apartments, offices, pubs and restaurants. What was once an industrial area has now become an attractive area for locals and tourists alike.

The development company always intended to incorporate artwork into the development and this sign is beautifully crafted from cast metal and is really attractive as well as useful to find your way around.

The panel also gives detailed history of the area and shows where you are in views from times past.
Location Name: Brewery Wharf next to Centenary Bridge
