There are two over bridges at this point, both carrying the Grand Junction Canal, now Grand Union Canal, over an occupation track and one of the tributaries of the River Nene. They date from 1899 when the Grand Junction Canal was widened to enable bigger vessels to carry cargo between London and the Midlands to try to stave off the competition due to the increase in road transport.
