L'ancre de type Amirauté à jas repliable fut inventée au milieu du 19e siècle. Cette ancre fut retrouvée à Saint-Anicet dans l'ancien chenal des bateaux fréquentant le canal de Beauharnois.

The present Beauharnois Canal was built between 1929-1932 on the south side of the St. Lawrence River, measuring 24.5 km in length. It superseded Soulanges Canal which closed in 1958.
This anchor was found at Saint-Anicet in 1987. It weights 295 kg and measures 1.8 m x 1.3 m.
