Blackhall Chimneys, Kendal, Cumbria - Unique Chimneys and Chimney Pots on Waymarking.com

This building has had many occupiers. The most notable being amongst the first. Built sometime in 16th century for the Wilson family. Henry Wilson was nominated 1st Alderman of Kendal in 1575. Starting a long tradition of members of the public serving the community. The building was modernised around 1810 with the sash windows filling the openings. Many later additions and alterations have added to the character. Constructed of courses of squared rubble with prominent corner stones at one end. Unusually the roof is covered with Welsh slates, suggesting they came on the railway after 1850.
