An intelligence agent is being trailed by the opposition and decides to hide the despatch he’s carrying in the treasure box of a car rally that is being held by Sir George Benstead. The agent is killed but manages to send to Steed an invite to the car rally before he dies. Steed and Mrs Peel take part in the rally as do opposition agents. A large amount of skulduggery occurs on the rally before Steed and Emma finally secure the treasure.
One of the last treasure hunt clues is located in the barn of a farm. Mrs Peel and her partner, an enemy agent, arrive first and have a show down. Each tries to take off with the final clue in the car alone, but in the end the enemy agent thinks he has won, however, Mrs Peel manages to stow away in the boot of the car. The location of the farm, in reality, is Rabley Park Farm. Some of the peripheral buildings have since been demolished, but the barn is still easily recognisable.
