The North Shore Scenic Byway, or Highway 61 from Duluth MN to the Candadian border is 154 miles of some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. The byway follows the shore of Lake Superior and you can see the rugged shoreline, steep ravines, wooded coastline and more. Be sure to bring your camera as you will ooh and aah at the scenery.
The Cross River waterfall is right on the highway, in fact, the water tumbles to its depths under the highway. There is a small pullover area for about 15 autos, restroom, benches, nearby deli and gift shop and the Temperance River State Park.
There is a safety fence that sometimes blocks the view for the camera, but the scenery from both sides of the highway is not to be missed. You can hear the roar of the falls from your car window and if you don't look, you can be on the bridge before you notice the falls. This is a must see for everyone.
