The criminal court of Basel used to be located in Bäumleingasse where the other courts still are. As a consequence of a referendum in 1968 that stopped plans for a bigger court house at the address of the historic building from 1859, the criminal court moved out to Schützenmattstrasse south of the university in the 1970s.
The court is a bbuilding of the 1970s located in the inner yard of a block with small buisness and office buildings. From the street you cannot see much more than the entrance part.
