The Semaphore foreshore area offers a range of recreational facilities including a waterslide, mini-golf, old style carousel. The Ferris wheel is the one made famous in the Elvis Presley movie Roustabout.
The Ferris Wheel, in its original form was imported from the USA in the year 2000.
There are 12 carriages and each holds 3 people.
From the ground to its very top measures 17 metres.
The Ferris Wheel was shipped from the USA to Adelaide via Sydney.
While in Sydney the Ferris Wheel was unpacked and assembled onto a barge and used during the New Years Eve celebrations.
Located in the Foreshore, corner of Esplanade & Semaphore Road, Semaphore, SA, 5019
If your a fan of Elvis Presley you pretty much know his 1964 movie Roustabout. Not a huge fan of riding Ferris Wheels but for the sake of a good story, the Ferris Wheel was sought out. The ferris wheel from the movie, Roustabout, is now living in Australia at Semaphore South Australia. The original exteriors for Routabout were filmed in Thousand Oaks, California. In a cow pasture! Luckliy the ferris wheel now has ocean views. When in Semaphore, make a beeline and check out this movie icon. It's even called, The Roustabout!
