This church is located in the left bank of the Reuss river in Luzern.
It´s the first large sacral Baroque church in Switzerland.
Built from 1666 to 1677 maybe constructed according to plans of Vorarlberg or designed by the Jesuit priest Father Henry Mayer and Christopher Vogler.
Mayer came the designs of the stucco of the side chapels, which represents in Switzerland, the oldest examples of Wessobrunn school style. The two towers were placed later in 1893. The church was extensively refurbished in the 1970s.
The 1755 church was connected with the Jesuit college.
