Per the park newsletter (Summer 2011 issue):
...a 300 foot zipline known as The Flying Squirrel. Each participant is harnessed into a zip pulley and zips through Bays Mountain Park's natural woodland canopy on a fast paced thrill adventure ride... there is no age requirement to ride... Participants must simply be able to be safely secured and fitted into a harness and helmet... There is, however, a maximum weight limit of 275 pounds.

Starting June 1st the summer hours for The Flying Squirrel will be Tuesday through Saturday at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m. The cost to zip is $10.00 per zip, per person, or $5.00 per zip, per person for members of the Bays Mountain Park Association (must show current, valid park pass at registration).

Zipline - May be booked during weekdays with a Minimum of 10 and a Maximum of 35 in group."

The advantage of this zipline is its very low fee ($5-10) for the experience, but also is the shortest line distance waymarked so far. Nice way for young thrill seekers to get a rush.
