The Frank L. Boyce Miracle League Field opened on Fathers Day of 2008, an athletic field specially designed for special needs children. Located near Terrace Park at the corner of Lake and Covell Avenues, the playing field has been created with a smooth, safe rubber surface rather than typical dirt. Bases and lines have been painted so wheelchairs don’t have to contend with rough bumps. Buddy volunteers are also available to assist on a one-to-one basis.
The Sioux Falls Downtown Rotary helped sponsor the project by collecting and contributing $100,000 to the disability accessible ball field, the largest gift to this effort. The field was named for the late Frank L. Boyce, a Downtown Rotarian and a person who actively supported athletics for young people. A rotary medallion was placed on the brick archway that leads to the field.
