Francis Hume - Culpeper County VA - American Revolutionary War Veteran Graves on Waymarking.com

Francis was the second son of six children of George and Elizabeth Hume. He was born in Culpeper County, VA in 1730. In 1750, Francis joined the Culpeper County Militia and served under Captain John Field in the French and Indian War. He served with Field again during the Revolutionary War as a captain of the Virginia Continental Line. As a result of his service, Francis received bounty lands in Culpeper County where he was a farmer for most of his life until he died in 1813.

The lone grave of Francis Hume is at roadside on Remington Rd. (Rt. 15/29) near Remington in Culpeper County. The inscription reads:

In May 2005, the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held a ceremony to honor Francis and place an official SAR marker at his grave.¹
