The clock is above the entrance arch. The centre spindle exits the arch through the centre of the City of London shield indicating that the drive mechanism is behind the facacde. The face of the clock is cut out and has three rings. The outer ring, painted gold, is connected to the middle ring by the minute marks that are also painted gold. The middle and centre rings are black and are connected to each other by the hour marks. The hour marks are painted gold and are not in traditional Roman numerals.
