This is the best orientation table I’ve ever seen and really gives a feel of the place.

Marsden is in a deep sided valley in the Pennine Hills and the shape of the table really captures the feel of the topography of the town and surroundings. It even shows backpackers on the hills and fishermen in the river.

It’s obviously not to scale but gives a realistic impression of the things you will see around you.

The table was funded as part of the Millenium celebrations although not installed until 2002. It was designed and made by Mick Kirkby-Geddes who is a sculptor who uses everyday objects and scrap metal to create his own personal style of work (visit link)
