Spectacle Island is one of the Boston Harbor Harbor Islands. It is located about 4 miles from Long Wharf in Boston where you may board a ferry to the island. Private vehicles are not allowed on the island. To reach the vista point you must hike the trail from the dock to the top of the north end of the island. There you will find a pavillion, picnic tables and an orientation table.

Spectacle Island also features a marina, visitor center, restrooms, two sandy beaches, a rinsing station, and five miles of walking trails. A cafe is available during the summer.

The island was initially two drumlins connected by a spit, hence its name. The land area was 49 acres. Due to landfill activity and parkland renewal efforts it is now nearly twice the original size at 85 acres. It is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. With a height of 157 feet above sea level, Spectacle Island is now one of the highest points in Boston Harbor.
