There is a small, white possibly marble carriage block out front on the sidewalk in front of this home built in 1812.

Considering the area, it is a wonder and a small miracle this thing has survived and is still in terrific shape. Even the home is in wonderful condition. The block is surrounded by an old brick sidewalk. The block is about a foot high, four sides with the corners cut diagonal effectively making it 8 sides (but really four). There is another one of these around the corner at the Walt Whitman House, another NRHP site like this one.
