UPDATE: July 2017. These mural items have been painted over by a newer mural - See "Buffalo Off Broadway" mural Waymark.
In the alley behind 118 N. Broadway, a mural is painted on the back of the building. The surface is partially brick, and partially plaster. The background of the mural is off-white and made to look like an adobe building. The north section shows an arched doorway, with cracks in the wall, and large pottery pieces. The center section is labeled “The Alley Barber.” The real door and window to the building are incorporated into the mural, and an old-fashioned red-white-blue barber pole is painted on the wall. The south section of the mural shows an old wood door which is padlocked, and a window, with painting to give the appearance of the stucco breaking off and revealing a wood interior wall.
There is no date or artist’s name on this mural. It is called “Commerce Corner” in the City art listings. The building is occupied by The Summit Company, an outdoor recreation store, selling everything you need for outdoor sports and hobbies.
