Grand, old Victorian absolutely dominates this huge intersection. It is the mother of all landmarks and the quintessential Victorian in this historic district. The original cast iron fence from the 1800's still surrounds the front yard, very cool!!

If ever there was a lesson to be taught about Victorian architecture, this would be the house to give it. It has about every trait except for the cone/castle parts found in other parts of town. It is painted the telltale dark green of Haddonfield Victorians. I love the dormers coming out of the Mansard roof as well as all the neat little nooks and crannies located everywhere on this beast. Located at an important intersection in town, everyone notices this iconic symbol of the 19th century. Currently, it is used for offices, divided into two places of business. Rather than even try to reconstruct what is here, I will leave it to the narrative which can be found below.

For a more detailed and informed physical description of this site, I have added information from the original nomination form sent to me by John P. Byrne, National Register Database Manager (John_Byrne@nps.gov), Department of the Interior. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America. This house of course is the anti-Colonial but still represents a part of Haddonfield that was almost completely erased and is just as important to the integrity of the district as a 18th century home.

Historic Benjamin Lippincott House, built 1876, marked by Historical and Preservation Society. One of largest and most distinguished Victorian dwellings in Haddonfield. 3-story with spacious veranda on two sides. Porch brackets and columns have interesting, elegant details. Architraves over the doors and windows with dog ear trim. Under main cornices are elaborated Victorian brackets. Mansard roof on front section with set-in dormers and flat roof over. Handsome original Victorian iron fence with brick base and brick columns, surrounding Kings Highway in front of property. --- National Register of Historic Places Inventory -- Haddonfield Historic District Nomination Form
