The J. V. Lathrop House was constructed in 1902. The 2½-story wood frame residence is set on a stone foundation. The house was built in a Queen style by an unknown builder. It was constructed for the John Virgil Lathrop family. Lathrop came to Montrose in 1890 and operted Lathrop Hardware until 1916. The house as been been nicely restored and is in very good condition
