I visit this Inn once a year. They have a Xmas Craft show. I don't go for the crafts I go because they have a fire in the fireplace and serve homemade food. Chicken corn noodle, beef bar-b-que and Lepp cookies.
Jost Lerch youngest son of Caspar Lerch and Anna Margaretha Stroder, went off to war as a dummer boy and rose to the rank of sergent in Capt. Kershner's Company.
He returned and had a tavern in Womelsdorf (then called Middlestown) He's best know for his tavern in
Wernersville, Lerch's Tavern. The building is now the home of the Heidelberg Historical Society. At least 3 generations of Jost's descendants operated the tavern.
The Inn or Tavern was built in 1787. He married Rosina Hain and they had 12 children (according to their tombstones), but only 11 have been identified and 8 where listed in his will. Jost and Rosina are buried at Hain's Church.
