At this point the road passes very close to a wooden footbridge which crosses the same stream. The foot path follows the River Wharfe on the east side.
The land on both sides of the river forms part of the Bolton Abbey Estate owned by the Duke of Devonshire. There are a large number of free public access footpaths on the estate. However there is limited places where a car can be parked so the best way to see the bridge is from the footpaths.
There is a small free car park at Barden Bridge. The estate has 3 pay car parks on the other side of the river and there a number of bridges that can be used to cross the river. The pay car parks charge 6 pounds for the day (as at 2011). On Sundays there is an additional paying car park at Barden Bridge.
