The Beta-Eta Chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity came to what was then known as Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1947. The current house can accommodate 36 members.

The original founding of the TKE can be traced to 8 men at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL who wished to form their own organization devoid of heritage, wealth and other social classes. Today, TKE proud of its founding principles and boasts it is a "non-exclusive fraternity... not affiliated with any religious or political ideals."
