Pigs & Demos - a great little annual fest

Every year about the middle of June Hoagland has its annual fest. It starts on Thursday and runs through Saturday. There is a greased pig catching contest on Thursday with age categories from 1 to adults. 2011 saw over 300 contestants.
There is a two day demo derby on Friday night and then again on Saturday night. Never believe the starting time for the derby; they always start nearly a half hour late year after year. In years past it was a great derby. The past few years though it has not been as good as it was. The track though and seating for it is great. It puts you right in the action. The problems of late (2011 and a few years before) have been with the promoters and running of the demo, not the drivers or facilities. Hopefully it will soon get back to being the derby it used to be.
There is plenty of food available, an entertainment tent, and a beer tent. Carnival rides are there as well. Parking is free and there is no admission other than for the derby.
