This airport started out in 1955 as simply an unpaved airstrip. By 1960 the runway had been paved and other improvements made. Now the airport has a modern terminal and can service small commercial planes, private jet aircraft, helicopters, and light aircraft.

Sedona has become quite popular with tourists because of the amazing scenery in the Red Rock Country preserve and for the New Age atmosphere of the city itself. Air travel into the city has become more and more popular with travelers to the area.
